What makes it delicate
- It has a pile with a direction. Rubbing against it marks it.
- It marks easily with pressure and moisture.
- It holds dust and lint.
- There are polyester velvets and velvets in other fibres; each behaves differently.
How it's cleaned
Before starting we check the label and colourfastness. We vacuum in the direction of the pile, pre-treat carefully and extract with little agitation. The pile is then brushed in the right direction as it dries.
What to avoid
- Rubbing hard or in circles
- Soaking the fabric
- Strong products or bleach
- Direct heat for drying
What to expect
Velvet can come out very well, but it is more sensitive than other fabrics. Old stains and pressure marks may not disappear. If the fabric doesn't tolerate moisture, we tell you before we start.
Drying
Usually 8 to 12 hours. Ventilate well.
