What decides whether a stain comes out
The result depends on:
- The substance: wine, coffee or grease behave differently.
- Age: a fresh stain comes out far better than one that is months old.
- The fabric: some absorb more; others are damaged by moisture.
- What has been done before: rubbing, bleach, strong detergent or an iron can set or damage a stain.
- Damage: discolouration, burns or heat marks are not dirt and can't be cleaned away.
- Depth: the deeper it has gone, the harder it is.
We aim for the best result the material can safely allow. We do not promise to remove every stain.
Most common stains
- Wine
- Coffee
- Grease and food
- Urine and other odours
- Blood, make-up, pen and marker, sun cream and sugary drinks: send us a photo and we'll tell you.
What to do right after a spill
- Blot the liquid with paper or a clean cloth, pressing without rubbing.
- Don't use bleach, alcohol or strong detergents.
- Don't apply heat (iron, hairdryer): it can set the stain.
- Don't soak the furniture.
- Take a photo and send it to us.
How we treat a stain
- We identify the substance and look at the fabric.
- We test the product on a hidden spot if needed.
- We pre-treat the stain.
- We extract with hot water.
- We repeat the stain treatment if necessary and the fabric allows it.
Price
Treatment of normal stains is included in the price of cleaning the furniture. If a stain needs special treatment, we tell you beforehand. See pricing.
